Medical Literature Evaluation
Objectives of the course:
1. To have general understanding of statistical measures used in clinical trials.
2. To understand the different statistical techniques and proper interpretation of each.
3. To define the evidence base medicine and how it’s related to therapeutic decision making analysis.
4. To assign the level of evidence classification and recommendation grading based on the results of clinical data.
5. To define the major sources of clinical drug data.
6. To understand the different methodologies used for designing research to answer specific medical related question(s).
7. To expand the role of the pharmacist and other healthcare providers in providing specific drug information to the medical practitioners and to the pharmacists.
8. To develop the habit of reading with critical eye.
9. To understand the basic requirements needed in publishing scientific papers.
10. Describe how drug literature evaluation skills can be used to evaluate information used in pharmacy practice.
